Summary

Role Summary The After School Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the after school program. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with peers, teachers, and students, have a deep commitment to student achievement, hold students and self to high expectations, and uphold Navigator school culture at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Program Planning
  • Develop activity plans and daily schedules in collaboration with afterschool staff and school leadership
  • Supervise staff to ensure safety and appropriate activities and monitoring of student behavior
  • Engage school staff and partners to provide enrichment opportunities
  • Provide a weekly schedule of student activities
  • Administration and Record Keeping
  • Support program registration and tracking family fee payments, as applicable
  • Oversee and support attendance and snack distribution
  • Communicate with families regarding the program
  • Student Support
  • Support positive student behavior, meeting with students and families as appropriate, and involving school administration as needed
  • With the support of the Student Services department and teachers, assist students in areas of educational need
  • Assist students with increased academic or behavioral needs as assigned (training provided as needed)
  • Professional Expectations
  • Participate fully in all assigned staff meetings, professional developments and planning sessions
  • Prepare student activity plans as assigned
  • Participate fully in the coaching cycle (being observed, receiving real-time and post-lesson feedback, collaborate with coach on action steps, implement action steps, etc.)
  • Support the general day-to-day happenings of the school site
  • Uphold Navigator’s mission, values, and culture at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • AA or BA Degree preferred, or High School Diploma and the passing of the ParaPro exam
  • Commitment to student success and learning
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Reliance on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions
  • Desire to improve professionally, open to receiving coaching and feedback
  • Flexible to changing work environment; always presents with a positive attitude
  • Ability to read and write simple correspondence 
  • Possesses effective communication skills
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages
