Summary

The Vice Principal of Culture & Operations will directly support teachers in their development, lead all school site operations, act as a liaison with Parent Club and other parent groups, and lead school culture initiatives to ensure all students have the skills necessary to succeed in college and beyond. The VP of Culture & Operations is an essential leadership team member and will primarily perform the job duties listed below, and will also step in whenever necessary to duties that are usually assigned to the Principal and Vice Principal of Academics & Intervention. The VP of Culture & Operations reports directly to both the site Principal and the Director of ITOM, with support from the Director of Student Services and the Student Services staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead school culture initiatives to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that upholds high expectations for all students and staff members
  • Supports teachers in student behavior management and leads Tier 2+ student discipline actions and processes
  • Serves as a liaison for Parent Club and school leadership in all parent and community activities
  • Provides rigorous weekly coaching for up to ⅓ of school teaching staff
  • Coaches, including scheduled and unscheduled classroom observations and carefully constructed feedback meetings that include clear action steps that will result in increased student engagement and learning in the classroom
  • Provides intensive coaching to support highest needs teachers
  • Implements intensive coaching, including additional visits and feedback, co-teaching and modeling instructional practices, and co-lesson planning
  • Lead school scheduling and operations to ensure that the school runs safely and effectively
  • Operational duties include, but are not limited to: scheduling, purchasing, safety, fundraising, compliance, field trips, and facilities
  • Oversee operational programs including school meals, custodial services, athletics, and safety programs
  • Maximize program utility and student/staff satisfaction
  • Participate fully in all aspects of role
  • Support the general day-to-day happenings of the school site
  • Uphold Navigator’s mission, values, and culture at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and valid California Teaching Credential required
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience required, three+ preferred
  • Previous experience working with a diverse student population preferred
  • Commitment to student success and learning
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Desire to improve professionally, open to receiving coaching and feedback
  • Flexible to changing work environment; always presents with a positive attitude
  • Possesses effective communication skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
  • Employment eligibility will include fingerprints, tuberculosis and/or other employment clearance
