The Paraeducator position at Montague State Preschool within the Santa Clara Unified School District is part-time, with work hours from 8:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., five days a week, for 10 months each year. Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of a permit teacher site supervisor, provide instruction to individuals, small groups, or large groups of Child Development students, monitor and report student progress in a classroom or other learning environment.
  • **Representative duties include:**
    • Organizing groups and leading learning activities for students
    • Preparing and implementing weekly lesson plans
    • Preparing materials for classroom use
  • Candidate must have knowledge of child growth and development, good health practices/safe practices in classroom and playground activities, and child guidance principles and practices.
  • **Qualifications:**
    • Candidate must be a high school graduate
    • Have twelve (12) Early Childhood Education (ECE) units
    • Hold a current Child Development Associate Teacher permit
    • Have some experience working with preschool children in a center-based program
    • Candidate must have knowledge of basic subjects taught, correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary
    • Good oral and written communication skills are essential
    • Spanish speaking preferred

Qualifications

  • This position requires the candidate to have completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education OR the ability to demonstrate, through a formal local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics (or readiness in those subjects, as appropriate). Testing TBD.
