Summary

The Quad Preparatory School is seeking a floating associate teacher for its Upper School (grades 6-12) to fill in for head and psychosocial teachers, providing instruction and social-emotional support to students in small class settings.

Responsibilities

  • Take on the responsibilities of a head teacher or psychosocial teacher, following lesson plans and the directions of other classroom teachers.
  • Report to the teacher on his or her return as to what was accomplished during the teacher’s absence.
  • Develop and be ready to implement “emergency” lesson plans in the event a teacher’s absence is unexpected and plans are not readily available.
  • Push into the homeroom classes for interdisciplinary lessons and classroom support on days when substitute coverage is not needed.
  • Perform administrative and clerical tasks for Upper School faculty and administration on days when substitute coverage is not needed.
  • Follow the professional code and policies of the school and conduct oneself in a way that promotes the mission of the school.
  • Utilize Google Suite, in particular Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets.
  • Attend all faculty and staff meetings and required special events (e.g., open houses, Curriculum Night, Carnivale).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education (any subject area), special education, a related field, or a humanities-related field.
  • Experience teaching children in grades 6-12.
  • At least three years experience as a full-time teacher or teacher’s assistant (preferred).
  • Master’s degree in education (any subject area), special education, or a related field (preferred).
  • Special education training, including training in the areas of gifted education and twice-exceptional youth (preferred).
  • Secondary (any subject) and/or special education teaching credential (preferred).
  • Experience teaching twice-exceptional youth (preferred).
