The Paraeducator Special Education position supports students with special needs in various elementary and middle school settings within the Escondido Union School District. This role involves working to enhance the educational experience of students with Non-severe and Severe disabilities, adhering to instructional and behavioral guidelines established by the education system.

• Assist teachers in implementing educational programs for students with special needs.
• Support students' academic and behavioral needs in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Supervise students during classroom activities, recess, and other school events.
• Help prepare instructional materials and adapt learning activities as needed.
• Contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

• Possession of a secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent.
• Completion of at least two years of study (minimum 48 semester hours) at an institution of higher education, or possession of an associate’s (or higher) degree, or passing a rigorous assessment demonstrating knowledge in reading, writing, and mathematics.
• Transcripts must be submitted with the application if applying for an exemption from the multiple-choice examination.
